Mystery Upon Mystery
For those interested, ioxmo's Daria site is at http://daria.cjb.net , so drop by and take a peek!
It looks like someone didn't proofread MTV's "Before They Were Daria Stars" flipbook. The flipbook contains 72 images. Here's the caption of the last one:
Here's what Sandy looked like before she joined the Fashion Club. Just kidding--it's "Burnout Chick" who evolved into a different character.
The image listed with the caption:
Boy, Burnout Chick really DOES have a secret past! ( Nah, it just looks like they accidentally copied the caption from Image #2 onto Image #72. )
Furthermore, there is a hidden image #73 with no caption.
So who is this mysterious Daria character? Beavis's Mom?

Glitter Berries Update
A big update at Glitter Berries. From site operator Kemical Reaxion at the PPMB:
The big news this time is that I have re-organized the fanfic illustrations and renamed links to author and artist pages. This is important if you are linking to an artist or author page anywhere on your own site, blog, etc. Your links will need to be changed. Please note that the fanfic and artwork files themselves have not been moved or renamed, so if you're linking to individual works, they should be fine. If you have any questions about the changes, or if there are any broken links, please let me know. Because this was such a big change involving so many files, it's possible I may have missed something, so please do let me know if anything's not working right.
(Check out what's new here .)
Happy Birthday to Daria fan Wyvern.

Daria Movies on "The-N"
An update on the Daria Movies on "The-N" (and thanks to Greybird for the information):
"Is It Fall Yet?" and "Is It College Yet?" are being advertised heavily on The N for this coming Saturday, 28 May, as part of its May and June "movies" specials.
"IIFY?" is scheduled for 8:00 pm ET / 5:00 pm PT, and "IICY?" for 9:30 pm
ET / 6:30 pm PT. Greybird states:
"One showing each, though the on-line guide doesn't display
anything after 3:00 am ET, so I wouldn't rule out a late-late repeat as
yet. ("Daria" episodes are run at 4:00 and 4:30 am ET, the same ones
shown the following night at 2:00 and 2:30 am ET.)
The N is typically clueless, listing these 90-minute shows on line as if
they were each half-hour episodes, with two other half-hour shows
ostensibly scheduled in the following time periods (for example, for
"IIFY?", at 8:30 and 9:00 pm ET).
The direct link to their schedule is
http://www.the-n.com/ntv/schedule.php .
No word, obviously, on whether either one is the originally-as-shown
version, the cut-for-time MTV version (as with "IICY?"), or the
sliced-for-moralizers The N version (as with their first showing of
"IIFY?")."
If anyone else has news they'd like to see in the DFB as a full post, please send info to cincgreen (at) yahoo (dot) com. (And apologies to using the text of Greybird's e-mail without vetting it with him, but I figured he'd want to get the info out.)

Insomnia
Two great pictures, and some info:
This is a screen capture from a Beavis and Butthead episode called "It's a Miserable Life" which aired December 19, 1995. This Daria is from an alternate reality -- a reality in which Butthead died. The joke is that Butthead's death convinces Daria to give the male species a chance again.
Next is this six-picture shot of Daria:
From left to right:
1) Daria as a baby, from "Pinch Sitter", aired June 9, 1997.
2) How Daria was initially represented on Beavis and Butthead. The episode is "Citizen Butthead", aired October 18, 1993.
3) An alternate look for Daria on B & B from the episode, "Sporting Goods", aired October 4, 1993.
4) The standard, baseline Daria from "Esteemsters", aired March 3, 1997.
5) A future Daria from "Write Where it Hurts", aired August 3, 1998.
6) Another future Daria from "Lane Miserables", aired July 14, 1999.
And if you want to see these pictures on the original page, as well as get cool wallpaper for your computer of these pics, go here . (P. S. Save these pics while you can -- Phil is still trying to Save Outpost Daria.)

Iron Cheffery
From the MTV site: a early picture of Jane Lane.
The caption reads: "Did you know that Jane started out with a punk look?"
My questions/observations:
1) This would make an interesting Iron Chef for artists. "Redraw Jane Lane with this haircut and style - assume that the show's creators kept this look for Jane Lane during the show. You can either leave Jane Lane's angular facial features the same, or give her a softer facial appearance."
2) What would the show have been like if Jane had been more "punk"? How would it have changed? Jane would certainly have been more of an outcast if she dressed to provoke a reaction.
3) Doesn't Jane look a lot like Helen in this pic?
From The Illinois DariaCon (Part II)
From the Daria News Archive :
Thanks to five new votes this weekend, DARIA has moved up another place to number 23 in the tvshowsondvd.com chart of most-wanted unreleased DVDs. By 1200 UTC today, 2,155 people had voted for DARIA. The number ten slot is occupied by GET SMART, with 2,617 votes.

"Burnout Chick CHRISTY?"
Art from the MTV flipbook "Before They Were Daria Stars"
With this cryptic caption:
"Here's what Sandy looked like before she joined the Fashion Club. Just kidding--it's "Burnout Chick 'Christy'" who evolved into a different character."
So what the hell IS the name of "Burnout Chick"?
Stickers
Richard Lobinske completed Part 2 of "Falling Into College 34 - For This, We're Thankful" at the PPMB.
More from the article by Mr. Anonymous:
Next we have the stickers. As stated above there were sixteen stickers made. Fifteen of them were produced for retail sale while one was a promotional item. First we'll look at the commercial stickers.
The first four feature Daria in various familiar poses and alongside equally familiar quotes. Just like the patches, the two round decals feature the logo and skull design. The two long stickers show Daria alongside two quotes readily associated with her. The first has a line from the opening theme, "You're standing on my neck" and the other has a line she actually quoted in the series, "How come even in my fantasies, everyone's a jerk?" The round stickers are slightly larger than the patches and the stickers are about an inch and a half tall and about three inches long.
Next in line is the other Morgendorffer daughter. Quinn got two stickers featuring her lovely visage. The first is a round decal showing her more vain side as she gazes lovingly at her reflection in a hand mirror. The long sticker features the quote, "It's not easy being cute and popular." Quite appropriate for her at the time the stickers were produced. Remember, these were all made during the first two seasons before she was allowed to develop beyond her shallow roots.
Now it's time to look at the Lane siblings again. Jane once more gets the short end of the stick compared to her big brother. Her round sticker has the same image used in the patch but at least the long sticker allows her a new pose next to the quote, "What's my motivation again?" Trent, on the other hand gets two round decals as well as a long sticker. The first round sticker recycles the sleeping pose from the patch while the other has a slightly (very slightly) psychedelic swirl background and his head in the foreground. His long sticker has the quote, "I'm not a musician... I'’m an interpreter of sound." A familiar quote quite popular among fans.
Brittany Taylor is the only other character blessed with decals. Her round sticker shows her giving that sweet but nonetheless vacant gaze she was best known for. The long sticker has the quote, "Bounce, Smile, Giggle, Repeat!" Quite appropriate actually.
Should you merely wish to have all the characters in one place there's a sticker to satisfy your desire. The group decal has all the characters mentioned above in extreme closeups. At around four inches it's slightly longer than the quote decals and is a little narrower but is quite colorful and fun.
The last sticker produced was for Daria and Jane's favorite television program. It's about the same height as the round stickers but its oval shape makes it about a half inch wider.
Finally we have the promotional decal. This was handed out mostly during the first season to announce the series. The basic image is the round logo but it differs from the commercially available sticker in some notable ways. The first and most obvious difference is the border is a burgundy color as opposed to the green on the regular one. Another difference is the lack of the MTV logo anywhere on the front. All the other decals feature this vital piece of proof they are legitimate bits of licensed merchandise. The final difference is the back of the sticker features information about the show as well as the Daria logo. The MTV logo also appears here so it's proof that the item is a real piece of merchandise from the series and not a piece of homemade memorabilia.
All the items mentioned and shown above are real licensed items. There are several sellers on auction sites offering merchandise similar for sale. If you have any question about it being genuine please note that every item shown here features the MTV logo quite prominently as proof of its legitimacy. If the item you are looking at doesn't have this feature it's almost certain not to be genuine. This isn't to say there's something I haven't seen yet but it's been a long time since a new decal or patch has materialized so the odds are against anything new popping up anytime soon.
Mr. Anonymous also sent me some mail:
http://www.musicstickers.com/daria.html
Anyhow, this is a link to a place that sells all the licensed Daria stickers. The original MTV and Noggin stickers are likely only to be found by auction. If you're lucky. All that seems to be out on Ebay right now is bootleg stuff.

Fandom Goes On
Richard Lobinske posted Part 1 of "Falling Into College 34 - For This, We're Thankful".
The Brother Grimace/Angelinhel write-off continues.
Daria Collectibles
From an article by Mr. Anonymous:
Of the roughly hundred licensed bits of Daria merchandise patches and stickers are among the items that are still relatively easy to find. In total there were six patches produced and sixteen patches, fifteen of which were produced commercially.
First let’s look at the patches.
The first three feature our heroine in three different guises. Of course there's the logo but then we get treated to one of just her head and torso with no logo getting in the way. The final one has the familiar picture of her holding a skull. All three are quite colorful. The scan has muted the colors but they are quite attractive when viewed up close.
The final three patches feature the Lane siblings in all their glory or at least in familiar poses. Jane graces her sole embroidered effort with a rather bored look while channel surfing with her favorite remote control in hand. Trent get treated to a duo of patches though. His first shows him with his guitar. Fortunately he isn't playing anything so it's quite nice. The second patch has him in a more familiar pose sleeping the day (or night -- whichever) away.
All six patched are embroidered and about 1-3/4 to 2" across. As the pictures show they come on a rather plain black card and are stapled on. They can be ironed on to whatever you plan to stick them too but many people have stated they don't always stay attached that way so it might be wise to consider getting out the sewing kit and making sure they stay put that way.
These still show up on auction sites from time to time and are quite reasonable. There are also a few online retailers that still have these in stock so a little research can turn them up. That is if you want them.
More from Mr. Anonymous later.
