“Man's got to know his limitations...”

...and mine seems to be keeping track of what's been posted at the message boards since my last entry here. I have the sinking feeling I've omitted something, but I'm not sure what it is. If I have, please let me know in the comments.

First, two interesting discussions The Angst Guy pointed out in comments to previous posts:

Fan art: working from one of the previously mentioned alter-egos from The-N's website, Richard Lobinske created a full-color illustration of Daria enjoying (!) what appears to be a daquiri (!!) Click on the image for the full sized version:

“Please allow me to introduce myself”

...apropos the lyrics to ‘Sympathy for the Devil,’ I wish I could say that I'm a man of wealth, and whether or not I have taste is something I have to leave to the judgment of the readers of this weblog. I'm a relative newcomer to ‘Daria’ and therefore the fandom around the show. I see my role at this blog as a modest one: I simply want to provide links to recent fan fiction and fan art posted at the message boards and other fan sites. Where there is a discussion of general interest, I'll post a link to that, as well. If I've neglected anything, please notify me in a comment thread, and I'll update the post. Please note: CINCGREEN generally did not link to Iron Chef threads, so I won't either.

I will try to keep to a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule for updates. If I'm unable to keep to such a schedule, I'll do my best to notify readers in advance.

While my nom de blog may have horror-movie connotations, its source is comic, and the 'Dr' is a bit of irony those who investigate the source will appreciate. A few clicks and perhaps a visit to a library or bookstore (or yet a few clicks more), and the interested reader will find it. While I offer no prize to those who successfully identify the source, I hope those who undertake the search discover something as interesting—and as unbashedly cynical and comic—as Daria herself.

Thanks again to CINCGREEN for creating this weblog and allowing me to participate.

Meet Dr. Sinisterra....

...cue ominous music here.

He's agreed to help out with the Daria Fandom Blog, so wish him a warm welcome as soon as he gets out of the laboratory. As soon as he gets the invite mail, he will be added to the blogroll and have authority without leave or hindrance....

Big Wusses?

If you’re interested in having "Daria" on DVD, read this PPMB thread .

How much would you pay for a full set of “Daria” episodes on DVD…if they were recorded from "The-N (Noggin)". This question is debated on alt.tv.daria .

Are men who watch "Daria" big wusses? I don’t think so, but you can chat about it here !

Happy Belated Birthdays to Dennis and The Ranting Klown (March 29th)!

Happy Belated Anniversary to Richard Lobinske and his wife. (April 1st)

Reese Kaine calls for an Avon DariaCon at Hatteras Island, North Carolina between April 30th and May 5th. Go to the PPMB and send him a private message for details.

Someday There'll Be An Update

A look into the future of the Daria Fandom Blog.

Some of you might know that I'm currently attending school full time. As the semester ends, I find myself more and more busy and obviously, it's harder to find a few hours where I can just sit down and update the blog.

I have recently been accepted to the Ph. D. program at my university. Next semester, I'll be beginning Ph. D. level work and my fear is that timely updates of the blog will change from infrequent to impossible. The blog might indeed go on hiatus in September 2006 if the workload is heavy, and I think it will be.

However, "Daria" fandom is bigger than just one person blogging. I'm not fooling myself into believing that this blog is somehow essential in the grand scheme of things -- there are far more essential fansites out there. So if the blog goes under come September, I can still feel proud of the last two years of blogging. (And of course, if someone wants to take over the blog at that time....)

Anyway, there will hopefully be an update of some sort tomorrow. Apologies for the delay.
