Of general interest: fan Angelinhel would like to know the variety of this snail:
She's tentatively identified it as a Giant African Land Snail, although resident biologist Richard Lobinske disputes this, noting that the shape of the spiral of the snail in question differs from that of the Giant African Land Snail. Interested parties, snail fanciers, heron keepers, and anyone with sufficient garlic butter can find the discussion here.
